Importance of updating your social media profiles

Most people tend to create a profile in their social media account and then just forget about.  (Including myself!)  We get busy in life and posting and just simply not think about the profile once completed. Not good.

I’ve learned the hard way how important it is to keep profiles current.  If your profile is lacking your current job title or fresh content, you, or your business, become that much harder to find on the Internet.  LinkedIn, Facebook and your blog all have the potential to be found via social media.  Make it a point to review your profiles where you live on social media and update them to reflect the best first impression you can make!

Is Pinterest a Good Fit for Your B&B Marketing Efforts?

Pinterest is a very popular social outlet, and extremely popular with women, but is it a good venue for your limited time investment?  Let’s take a look at some facts.

1. Women prefer it over men and most female users tend to make more than $100,000 per year.

2. 50% of these women are between 25-45 years old. Half of them have kids. Bottomline, upper middle class, busy working moms.

3. Brands most followed on Pinterest tend to be retail in nature.

The focus of the successful brands on Pinterest is on lifestyle, not products. Brands like Whole Foods ( been successful on Pinterest, but not by posting to or about their own products. Instead, they promote a lifestyle that supports their brand.

Whole Foods post pins people in kitchens cooking and preparing great looking foods. Photos and links to their own products are in the mix, but don’t dominate.
