If you have travel plans to visit St. Pete, Florida, this summer, there is an art community on Corey Avenue that begs to be a high priority on your “go see” list.
Corey Avenue in St. Pete Beach, Florida, is a tourist paradise. The area is filled with specialty shops, wonderful restaurants, art galleries, clothing stores, imaginative gift shops, craft and hobby shops, beachwear shops, and much more.
Glass artist Annette Kapfer operates a unique art gallery in the historic beach area — the Kapfer Glass Studio. The studio features handcrafted dichroic art glass jewelry designed and created by Kapfer, but it is also the home to more 100 American artisans’ work as well.
TotalWebDesigner.com is currently working with the studio owner, and graphic design firm Graphic Details (www.gdetails.com), to create a visual exciting web presence that is mobile-friendly and high ranking on major search engines.
The initial site was recently launched, but the dynamic team continues working with the owner to build a truly unique and informative presence on the web.
If can visit the Kapfer Glass Studio in person this summer, be sure to tell Annette we sent you. If you can’t make it in person, be sure to stop by the website at: www.kapferglassstudio.com.
The 2012 Republican National Convention is scheduled for Aug. 27-30, 2012 in Tampa Bay, Flordia, and the 2012 Democratic National Convention for Sept. 4-6, 2012 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Thousands of delegates will pour in to these cities, for the presidential conventions in the next few weeks.
Moon Travel Guides, published by Avalon Travel, hopes to make it a little easier for delegates and their families to enjoy the convention cities during time off by offering free downloadable e-book copies of “Moon Tampa & St. Petersburg” and “Moon Charlotte.”
The good news for our readers is the e-books are also free to visitors not attending the conventions! They available for download until the end of September.
Download them at the Apple iBookstore, barnesandnoble.com, the Amazon Kindle store, and the Sony Reader Store.
*Please note that the Sony Store is only carrying Moon Charlotte.
Tips for how to stay safe when driving during a winter storm.
— Keep at least half a tank of gas in your car.
— Make sure you have good tires.
— Get a mechanic to do a winter check.
— Make sure they look at your: battery, antifreeze, wipers, windshield fluid, ignition system, thermostat, lights, heater, brakes, defroster and oil.
— Keep an ice scraper handy and a small broom if your area is expecting snow.
Staying in your vehicle when stranded is often the safest choice if winter storms create poor visibility or if roadways are ice covered. These steps will increase your safety when stranded:
* Tie a brightly colored cloth to the antenna as a signal to rescuers and raise the hood of the car (if it is not snowing).
* Move anything you need from the trunk into the passenger area.
* Wrap your entire body, including your head, in extra clothing, blankets, or newspapers.
* Stay awake. You will be less vulnerable to cold-related health problems.
Run the motor (and heater) for about 10 minutes per hour, opening one window slightly to let in air. Make sure that snow is not blocking the exhaust pipe–this will reduce the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
* As you sit, keep moving your arms and legs to improve your circulation and stay warmer.
* Do not eat unmelted snow because it will lower your body temperature.
* Huddle with other people for warmth.
BUT, the best advice we can give is to NOT drive during a severe winter storm in any of the mid-western states!
